On the way home from another long day of shopping, I was wondering if the rain was ever going to move out so we wouldn't be swimming in mud... and we could mow. God was so good to remind me of the saying that every cloud has a silver lining... even the never ending rain clouds.
Since it is the weekend, and it is too muddy/wet to do much at the house, we spent the day shopping. This entry is just pictures of the finds, the considerations and YES, even the great buy we got! It was quite an interesting day since we were toting 3 kids who are all about "building" but could care less about buying the things that make a house. The frequent downpours that usually hit just when we were heading outside were fun too. Oh well, at least it wasn't cold and snowing. Our destination today was Lebanon and we hit 4 stores including an antique place on the square and the Habitat ReStore there. Ray found a mantle that he liked at the antique store but we think it MIGHT be a bit too large. We were on our way to measure the opening in the house again when the rain started pouring so we'll do that tomorrow. I don't know how big a deal it would be to make the opening bigger. It would fit if the shelves didn't stick out so far past the actual frame.
Let me tell you a little about this antique place. It was unique. There is a TON of stained glass in the place and they are having a big sale so check out Cuz's if you're in the market. Morgan HATED the place. There are three levels and each one got scarier (in a good way if you're looking for a deal... lol.) The floor creaked like you were falling through with each step and there were holes where you could see through to the floor below. She stepped lightly and looked like a slow motion ballet (or hip hop number) trying to find the most secure spots.
I don't understand why she was worried. I'm sure it had nothing to do with all the rot and holes she could see in the ceiling of the place. All the buckets and pretty bowls and pots in the floor are catching water and there were many more. You had to dodge water pots all over the place. Personally, I loved the place. Morgan was scared to death and Marshall was convinced the place was "evil". I must say, they saw many things that their young little eyes had never witnessed before and they spent much of the visit with their mouths hanging open in disbelief.
If you think this was good, you should have gone with us to the building next door that isn't open to the public much. Oh my! It really is a neat shop that I'd recommend and will probably go back to without the complaining children.
At some point, we ended up in Hendersonville looking at even more ranges and refrigerators. We'd been shopping too long and everyone was getting a bit silly. We did find the bathroom mirrors for the master bath and Marshall's bath. If you count the Tuesday Morning that is inside the Sears Outlet as another store, we hit 5 today. My feet hurt.
I misspoke. Marshall was obviously being silly long before we hit the stores in Hendersonville. Ray found a bed in Lebanon that I really liked and for a great price so we might be heading back soon. He wouldn't let me buy it today because I wasn't using good "get a deal" etiquette. Apparently, I kept calling the kids over to "see MY bed." Oh well, we did get to buy something in Lebanon at the Habitat store. What an AWESOME deal!
We found 8 foot tall , 18 lite, stain quality wooden french doors for the guest room/office. They are brand new. They even have the protective film over the glass. Both doors cost $80! Our opening is 8 feet so we'll have to cut some off the bottom and sand it but it won't be a big deal since they are solid wood. We will stain them and etch the glass so it isn't clear anymore and they'll make a beautiful addition to the house, and offer a bit of privacy for guests... or mom and dad. Now it is time for bed!
